I had the pleasure of talking with the Caster/Social Media Manager about getting into a scene, the craft of casting, learning a new game, and more.
Starting from the beginning, how did you get into Siege and the pro scene?
I wanted to start casting to begin with, and was never really much of a player. I reached out to leagues back in 2018, and it all got started from there.
Are there any big aspects that people don’t know or underestimate about casting?
A lot of people don’t get just how difficult it is to cast. It’s really deceiving, because people will try it out on a professional broadcast and get tripped up. It’s way more difficult than one can imagine to perfect what you do.
Who were your casting inspirations in and out of R6? Has what you value in a cast changed over time?
Kixstar was always the reason why I even got into casting – I watched him back during the 2017 Invitational and always wanted to reach a level where I could even sound like him. His R6TMs server inspired me to get a computer and start my career.
You started branching out and casting Valorant in the past year, what have been the easiest and hardest parts of that transition?
The easiest thing is that Valorant is pretty fun to cast, and is a great change of pace from R6, but it’s about rebuilding all of your connections – knowing people in R6 doesn’t get you as far as you’d think
Changing things up, how did you go from casting to getting into the Social Media game? You’re currently the SMM for Beastcoast.
think I always wanted to be good at multiple things just to have a backup plan, so Social Media just kinda came about when an application for an internship came about. Honestly, I’ve always taken everything as it comes, so the opportunity for Beastcoast came about and I took it, even if I was uncertain
What’s next for Jazzman?
I have ZERO clue. Gotta just live in the present and enjoy every moment as it comes.
Any shoutouts you want to do
No shoutouts, just love the R6 community 🙂
One funny backstage story you can tell
I think the funniest casting moment I’ve ever had was back in the era when casters also had to produce and observe, and I accidentally hot mic’ed myself and said “what the fuck” to like 100+ people. Still haven’t casted a LAN so waiting on that backstage moment to come about.
