After their win against West Garfield Park in the quarter finals of SFCL, I asked RyRy of Hong Kong Rebels about the match.
First off, how do you think the match against WGP went overall?
It was a strong performance overall but we definitely did not play our best. Even though we won chalet we had a few shaky rounds and then on villa we threw two 4v2s on attack and a 5v3 on defense. And then Bank was just free, we adapted to the series and played our retakes on defense great.
What was the idea going into Villa? You clearly had a game plan picking it as a map, but it didn’t go as planned.
We just threw too many rounds on attack, we had the two 4v2s both times on dining that we lost and we would normally be very happy with a 3-3 but a 1-5 split is very difficult. Even with that being said we were making a comeback on defense then we threw a 5v3 because they found a gap in the site. We just did not do a good job of capitalizing on man advantages situations overall.
Was Bank a punish pick of sorts? Or did the team come out hot and take that momentum to the finish line?
Not really a punish pick, WGP has won it in SFCL and the LCQ but we are also comfortable on it. It was down to kafe or bank and I just had a gut feeling to pick Bank.
Chupan is a relatively recent pick up as coach, what has he been bringing to the team?
He has brought a new playstyle that we were struggling to implement for awhile and he helps us with our fundamentals and teamwork.
Final Question, out of Arial Academy and Orbit, who do you expect to win, and who do you want to face?
Not really sure, orbit is a very good team and they have even more firepower and pace with the pickup of BJL, but AAA has been on top of t3 through many different rosters. Regardless of who wins we’re looking forward to the match.
