Hot off the back of a 7-2 win over Method, I asked Drip some questions about the match.
First off, congrats on the win. How was it getting back on the mouse and keyboard for gameday?
Being “back” felt no different than anything really. I play ranked with friends a lot so that’s how I treated today. Despite being a coach I still am a pro level player, and losing to these kinds of players even with minimal comp playtime in the last year would be embarrassing.
What is it like working with these T2 players like Ryce and Valorr?
Ryce and Valor are good players and easy to work with. Both can be, and at some point will be pro players and they have the qualities to back that up.
The map was Clubhouse, one of the most default maps in comp, but what did you think of the map bans overall? Any curve balls thrown your way?
Map bans were nothing too serious. Valor did it while we were playing ranked. We can play all 9 maps since we do it in ranked all the time, so for us we just wanted to play something we would have fun on.
The match against Method obviously went well, but what were your expectations going into the match?
Going into the match, we obviously expected to win. They’re just a bunch of average T3 kids, and I haven’t lost to Hotan since I was on XSET in early 2021, and I obviously was not going to let that change.
How serious of a team is Penthouse? Is this a pug team thrown together like FPL Queens with minimal practices or is it more serious than that?
We are not a “serious” team. We don’t scrim or have strats. We do play ranked together as friends but that’s about it. We won’t scrim since everyone has other commitments. I would say it’s way less serious than FPL Queens.
What is it like working with Hat? He’s a player you haven’t worked with before correct?
Hat is a beast. He is one of the top rated players in NAL for a reason. I’ve never worked with him beyond a single tryout he had with Mirage, where he did very well.
What can we expect of this team going into the future?
Expect us to have fun and try our best, and show why we are pros.
